Despite playing away at BayArena, Bayern dominated the match. The Bavarians controlled 53% possession, taking 20 shots with 11 on target, compared to Leverkusen's 4 shots with one on target.

Kane broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute. From Jamal Musiala's cross, Kane, despite a less-than-clean touch, struck a decisive shot that flew straight into the top corner, giving Mark Flekken no chance to save. The English striker scored his 8th goal in the German National Cup and his 138th in 141 appearances for Bayern.
After the opening goal, Bayern continued to press but lacked precision in crucial moments. Luis Diaz, Musiala, Michael Olise, and Kane himself all missed clear opportunities, preventing them from extending their lead.
It was not until second-half injury time that the visitors sealed the match. Leon Goretzka sprinted past defenders before delivering a precise pass for Diaz to chip the ball diagonally past Flekken in a one-on-one situation, securing the 2-0 victory.
Bayern holds the record with 20 German National Cup titles, but this marks their first return to the final in 6 years. The Bavarians' opponent in the title match in Berlin on 23/5 will be VfB Stuttgart or SC Freiburg.

For Kane, this presents another opportunity to add to his growing collection of titles at Bayern, following two Bundesliga championships and one German Super Cup – bringing him closer to a perfect season with the Bavarian club.
After the match, Kane expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive performance, but admitted the team could have scored more goals. "The way we played and pressed high created many opportunities in both halves", the 32-year-old striker said. "The only thing we could have done better was to score more goals. The last 10 minutes are always a bit tense, but overall we controlled the game well and they did not create many chances".
Coach Vincent Kompany also did not hide his excitement about leading Bayern back to the final. He stated: "Berlin has been mentioned since day one I arrived here. It is a huge reward for the club to return. We always focus on the next match, but we also need to enjoy this moment. The goal is titles, and we are still competing on all fronts".
This season, Bayern is aiming for a quadruple. Coach Vincent Kompany's team has already won the German Super Cup and Bundesliga, reached the National Cup final, and will face PSG in the Champions League semi-finals.
