Before the afternoon training session on 15/7, Yamal was practicing his dribbling skills with Gavi. Lewandowski joined in, attempting to restrict the 18-year-old forward's space. However, with a lightning-fast move, Yamal pushed the ball through the gap between his two teammates and slipped away. Lewandowski's jaw dropped in astonishment.
Yamal then proceeded to outmaneuver Gavi once more. Finally, Lewandowski resorted to playfully grabbing the young player to stop him.
Since his professional debut in 4/2023, Yamal has consistently showcased impressive dribbling skills and goal-scoring prowess. At Euro 2024, the teenage star won the Goal of the Tournament award for his curled finish against France in the semi-final. He also claimed the Champions League Goal of the Tournament award for his solo run and curled finish against Inter.
Yamal celebrated his 18th birthday on 12/7. His birthday party sparked controversy due to the inclusion of little people in the entertainment. However, the performers themselves defended Yamal, stating they felt respected and had the right to make their own choices.

The controversy surrounding his birthday party led Barcelona to cancel the public presentation of Yamal's new contract and the awarding of the number 10 shirt. Club officials felt that media questions about the party would overshadow the event. Despite the lack of an official announcement, many fans visited official stores to order the number 10 shirt with Yamal's name. Staff were unable to confirm whether the number would indeed belong to the rising star.
The most recent Barcelona player to wear the number 10 shirt, Ansu Fati, recently joined Monaco on loan. Fati inherited the number after Lionel Messi's departure from Camp Nou in 2021.
Barcelona resumed training on 13/7. The team will tour Japan and South Korea at the end of the month before their La Liga opener against Mallorca on 16/8.
