Man Utd defeated by Arsenal in Premier League opener

Despite creating more chances, Man Utd lost 0-1 to Arsenal from a corner kick in their opening 2025-2026 Premier League match.

Arsenal scored from their very first corner of the season. Declan Rice's in-swinging corner from the left found its way into the net. Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, under slight pressure from William Saliba, fumbled the ball, allowing defender Riccardo Calafiori an easy header into an open goal.

This wasn't the first time Bayindir has made a similar mistake from a corner. In the League Cup defeat to Tottenham on 19/12/2024, the Turkish goalkeeper also conceded a goal from a corner to Son Heung-min. He is Man Utd's second-choice goalkeeper but started the opening match due to Andre Onana's lack of fitness.
