Several sources close to Man Utd have simultaneously reported this news, often indicating that they received a briefing from the club. The "Red Devils" typically don't announce transfer rumors themselves, but instead signal reporters like Simon Stone (BBC Sport) or James Ducker (Telegraph).
A few days ago, Hojlund stated that he hadn't received any information about an impending departure. Therefore, he's determined to impress the coaching staff and compete for a starting position, regardless of whether the club signs another striker. Hojlund is not considered one of Man Utd's 5 potential disruptive players due to his positive attitude.

Hojlund joined Man Utd from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 for an initial 85 million USD. He performed reasonably well in his first season, scoring 10 goals in 30 Premier League appearances. However, last season, he experienced a decline, scoring only 4 goals in 32 matches, despite being the main striker.
If Man Utd do not acquire another striker this summer, Hojlund is likely to retain his position, as his only competition would be 17-year-old Chido Obi. While Joshua Zirkzee and Matheus Cunha can also play as center forwards, their preferred role is attacking midfielder.
The situation changes with Man Utd's pursuit of Leipzig's striker, Benjamin Sesko. Director of Football, Christopher Vivell, is familiar with Sesko, having discovered the Slovenian's talent during his time at Salzburg. While manager Ruben Amorim prefers Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa are unwilling to sell the player.
Man Utd are prepared to pay 87 million USD for Sesko, and they believe Leipzig will accept the offer. However, the 1.95m tall striker has yet to make a decision. In two Bundesliga seasons, he has scored 27 goals in 64 games.
Currently, no club has made an official offer for Hojlund. Napoli and Juventus have expressed interest, but the "Red Devils" will only consider a permanent transfer, not a loan.
