Man Utd will pay a fixed fee of $87 million in four installments to Brentford. The amount could rise to $95 million depending on Mbeumo's performance at Old Trafford. The Cameroonian striker signed a contract until 6/2030, with an option to extend for a further year.
Mbeumo will wear the number 19 shirt at Man Utd, the same number he wore at Brentford, Troyes, and for the Cameroon national team. Previous Man Utd players to wear the number 19 include Raphael Varane, Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford, James Wilson, Danny Welbeck, and most famously, former striker Dwight Yorke.

"As soon as I knew I had the chance to join Man Utd, I had to take it and sign for my dream club, the club I've supported since I was a child," Mbeumo said during his unveiling.
The 25-year-old forward expressed his desire to learn from new manager Ruben Amorim and his world-class teammates. He also affirmed his determination and spirit to reach new heights at Old Trafford.
"Everyone has told me about the environment being built here and the exciting plans for the future," Mbeumo continued. "This is a huge club, with a fantastic stadium and amazing fans. We are all determined to compete for the biggest trophies."
Man Utd's Football Director, Jason Wilcox, impressed with Mbeumo's goals and assists, considers him one of the most consistent and effective players in England over the past three seasons. Wilcox believes Mbeumo fits the culture the club is developing and is pleased to have completed the deal quickly.
Mbeumo will join his new teammates before their US tour. Man Utd will face West Ham at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey on 26/7, Bournemouth at Soldier Field, Chicago on 30/7, and Everton at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta on 3/8.

Mbeumo developed at Troyes' academy in France before joining Brentford in 2019 for a then-club-record fee of $8 million. He played a key role in their promotion during the 2020-2021 season. After three Premier League seasons scoring fewer than 10 goals each, Mbeumo had a breakout season last year with 20 goals in 38 games. The last Man Utd player to score 20 goals in the Premier League was Robin van Persie in the 2012-2013 season.
Mbeumo is 1.71 m tall, left-footed, and prefers playing on the right wing. Man Utd has a player with similar qualities in Amad Diallo, but the Ivory Coast international is likely to play in a deeper role on the right wing. One potential issue for the Red Devils is that they could be without both players when the Africa Cup of Nations takes place later this year.
Mbeumo is Man Utd's second signing of the summer, following Matheus Cunha, the $85 million striker from Wolves. Old Trafford also welcomed 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon from a Paraguayan club. This deal was completed in 1/2025, but Leon had to wait until this summer, when he turned 18, to be eligible to play in Europe.
