At Parc des Princes in Paris, Mbappe opened the scoring from a penalty in the 55th minute. He then tapped in from close range 28 minutes later to make it 3-0, significantly contributing to France's 4-0 victory and securing their spot in the World Cup 2026 finals.
For the striker, these were his 399th and 400th goals in his professional career. He scored these goals for Monaco (27), PSG (246), Real Madrid (62), and the national team (55).
According to Opta, Mbappe reached 400 goals at the youngest age: 26 years and 328 days. Following him in this statistic are Messi (27 years and 95 days), Cristiano Ronaldo (28 years and 335 days), Harry Kane (30 years and 274 days), Karim Benzema (34 years and 4 days), and Thierry Henry (36 years and 30 days).
However, Messi required fewer matches to reach the 400-goal mark, doing so in 525 games, while Mbappe needed 537 matches.

Mbappe has a knack for achieving significant career milestones while playing for the French national team. He reached his 100th and 300th career goals in national team matches, against Andorra in 6/2019 and Gibraltar in 11/2023, respectively.
With his recent brace, Mbappe has now scored in six consecutive matches for the national team. This marks the longest scoring streak for a French player since Jean-Pierre Papin's seven-match run from 9/1990 to 10/1991.
With 55 goals for France in 94 matches, Mbappe is also close to catching Olivier Giroud, who holds the record with 57 goals for "Les Bleus".
In 2025 alone, Mbappe has directly contributed to 57% of France's total goals, with 7 goals and 5 assists, totaling 12 contributions to the team's 21 goals. Against Ukraine yesterday, in addition to his two goals, Mbappe also provided an assist for Hugo Ekitike to seal the 4-0 victory. This marks the fourth calendar year Mbappe has achieved double-digit goal and assist contributions at the national team level, following 2018 (11), 2021 (14), 2022 (15), and 2023 (16).
After the match, when asked about the significance of the record he had just broken, the Real Madrid superstar replied: "If you had told me about this milestone 20 years ago, I would have said it was amazing. But ahead of me are Messi and Ronaldo, who have scored nearly 1000 goals, so I need to score 400 more for people to pay a little attention to me. Nevertheless, this is a symbolic number."
