Just hours after PSG defeated Bayern Munich 2-0, Real Madrid secured a 3-2 win against Dortmund, setting up a highly anticipated semifinal clash. The match will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at 2 a.m. on 10/7 (Hanoi time).
This match marks a reunion for Mbappe and his former club. The French forward began his professional career at Monaco before transferring to PSG in the summer of 2017. During his 7 years in Paris, he became the club's all-time leading scorer with 256 goals and won 15 titles.
Last summer, Mbappe declined a contract extension with PSG to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, aiming to capture the Champions League title, the only major trophy missing from his collection. His best Champions League result with PSG was reaching the 2020 final (losing 0-1 to Bayern Munich), along with semifinal appearances in 2021 (losing to Man City) and 2024 (losing to Dortmund).

This season, however, Real Madrid experienced a disappointing Champions League campaign, being eliminated by Arsenal in the quarterfinals, while PSG triumphantly claimed their first-ever title. Individually, Mbappe continued to excel, winning the La Liga Golden Boot with 31 goals and his first European Golden Shoe.
Real Madrid and PSG have faced each other 8 times in European competitions. Real Madrid holds a slight edge with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses. Their most recent encounter was in the round of 16 of the 2021-2022 Champions League, where Real Madrid lost 0-1 in the first leg but won 3-1 in the second leg in Spain.
This will be manager Luis Enrique’s 9th time facing Real Madrid, following 6 matches while managing Barcelona and two while at Celta Vigo. He boasts a strong record against them with 4 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw.
