"Pogback," Mbappe wrote on Instagram, alluding to Pogba's return. "Go Monaco."
Mbappe has a strong connection with Monaco, having played for the club from the age of 14 to 18. He scored 27 goals in 60 appearances for Monaco before moving to PSG. The Real Madrid forward expressed his enthusiasm for his former teammate joining his old club.

Mbappe and Pogba were also teammates on the French national team from 2017 to 2022, winning the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League together. The 26-year-old forward once commented that when Pogba was playing for the national team, he only had to make a run and the ball would arrive at his feet. "Now, I have to find other ways to adapt," the 2025 European Golden Boot winner said last year.
Pogba last played in Juventus' draw against Cremonese in Serie A on 14/5/2023. He only made 9 appearances for Juventus after returning to the club from Manchester United in the summer of 2022. The 32-year-old midfielder was subsequently banned for 18 months for doping.
Pogba was cleared to play from 3/2025, but was unable to join a club at that time. Juventus terminated the former Manchester United midfielder's contract in 11/2024. Pogba had to wait until this summer's transfer window to join Monaco. His goal is to earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup in Canada, the US, and Mexico.
Monaco finished third in Ligue 1 last season, qualifying for the 2025-2026 Champions League. In addition to Pogba, they have reached an agreement to loan forward Ansu Fati from Barcelona. Monaco also boasts other international attacking players such as Folarin Balogun (US), Mika Biereth (Denmark), Takumi Minamino (Japan), and Breel Embolo (Switzerland).
