"I understand everyone wants to find someone responsible, but my job is to find solutions. Everything that happens on the field is my responsibility", Arbeloa said on 16/1 during the pre-match press conference.
Real Madrid recently experienced a turbulent week. After losing 2-3 to Barca in the Spanish Super Cup final, the club sacked coach Xabi Alonso. Arbeloa was appointed as his replacement, debuting with a shocking 2-3 defeat to second-division club Albacete in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey.
Arbeloa admitted Real Madrid lacked ideas, rhythm, and physical conditioning, aspects he needs to improve. The Spanish coach recounted a locker room story to emphasize the spirit of overcoming the past. He referenced their many-year journey to win their first Champions League title, asserting that "the past does not exist", whether it be glorious victories or bitter defeats like the one against Albacete.

Looking ahead to his first home match at the Bernabeu against Levante, Arbeloa views it as a pivotal match in the La Liga title race. Real Madrid are currently second with 45 points, four points behind Barca. "We are full of energy and desire. Playing at the Bernabeu is always a huge motivation. The whole team wants to have a good match", he stated.
The 42-year-old former player also called for support from the Bernabeu stands to empower the team through this difficult period. "I respect all fan opinions", he expressed. "I understand their disappointment, but Real Madrid only wins and claims titles when the Bernabeu stands behind the players. 90 minutes at the Bernabeu will feel very long if the fans are not with the team".
Regarding personnel, Arbeloa confirmed Kylian Mbappe has recovered and will be in the squad. Rodrygo, however, is not yet available as he needs more recovery time after a high-intensity period and is expected to return mid-next week.
Evaluating key players, the 41-year-old coach expects Jude Bellingham to become the new playmaker, demonstrating mobility, creativity, and the ability to penetrate the box. He also defended Vinicius against criticism, noting that the Brazilian forward has made great efforts during a tough training week and demonstrated his leadership role.
When asked about his philosophy, Arbeloa expressed his desire for Real Madrid to attack from the first minute, play with personality, and inspire fans to "see themselves" in the players. "Time is never enough for a coach, but I am not afraid of the fixture list. I have a fantastic squad, and we are ready", he affirmed.
