The program is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and co-organized by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, VnExpress newspaper, and the Vietnam Game Alliance.
This year's awards feature 4 main category groups:
The Golden Galaxy group honors games released in Vietnam. The organizing committee will present awards for: Game of the Year, Timeless Game, Excellent Publisher, Most Loved Game Community, and Most Loved Game Character.
The Golden Sun group is dedicated to Vietnamese games, including: Vietnamese Game of the Year, Excellent Indie Game, Excellent Graphics/Gameplay Design, Globally Successful Vietnamese Game, and Excellent Developer.
The Golden Star group focuses on esports, with awards for: Excellent Esports Discipline, Excellent Esports Team, Excellent Esports Athlete, and Esports Tournament of the Year.
The Golden Gear group honors products and services that support gamers, such as: laptops, phones, gaming monitors, network providers, payment channels, and most loved beverages.

Regarding eligibility, games must be licensed and released in Vietnam between 25/2/2025 and 29/1.
Some special categories have distinct criteria. The Timeless Game, Globally Successful Vietnamese Game, and Esports Game categories have no release time limits. For the Excellent Vietnamese Indie Game award, the product must be developed by an individual or a small team (under 20 personnel).
The award process will proceed through three stages. Following the Nomination round (29/1-25/2), eligible submissions will advance to the Preliminary round (10/3-31/3). Results for this round are based on 50% reader votes and 50% evaluation by the expert council.

Three or five nominations with the highest total scores will be selected for the Final round (7/4-21/4). Here, scores are calculated as 70% from the judging panel and 30% from the community. For the "most loved" categories, results depend 100% on reader votes.
The award ceremony is scheduled for the evening of 8/5.
The Vietnam Game Awards 2026 is a highlight of Vietnam Game Day (Vietnam GameVerse) 2026. This year's series of activities, themed "Do Local - Go Global", reflects the Vietnamese game industry's ambition to enhance human resource quality, promote technology transfer, and advance the "Make in Vietnam" brand.
The event is expected to boost Vietnamese games into a pillar of the modern cultural industry.
