Hours after the draw at their home ground, City Ground, on the evening of 11/2 London time, Nottingham Forest announced: "We thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them well for the future. We will not comment further at this time". This marks the third managerial change for Nottingham Forest this season, following the dismissals of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou.

Sean Dyche was appointed in October 2025. When he took over, Nottingham Forest were two points from Premier League safety. Upon his departure, the team had moved three points clear of the relegation zone, but their performance lacked significant improvement, and they had not established a secure enough gap.
In 22 matches managing the club in the Premier League, Dyche secured 18 points. He also guided Nottingham Forest to the Europa League play-off round, where they are set to face Turkish club Fenerbahce.
According to Sky Sports, Dyche was brought in not only to ensure Premier League survival but also to improve Nottingham Forest's position in the league table. However, a run of three matches against struggling opponents such as Crystal Palace, Leeds, and Wolves yielded only two points, causing the management's patience to wear thin.
In the summer of 2025, Nottingham Forest spent over USD 200 million to strengthen their squad and continued to add personnel during the mid-season transfer window, largely focusing on their attack. Despite this investment, the team has only scored 25 goals in 26 Premier League rounds.
Despite having attacking players such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Elliot Anderson, Nottingham Forest struggled with goal-scoring. This issue is believed to be the primary reason for Dyche's dismissal.

ESPN reports that former Wolves coach Vitor Pereira has reached an agreement to join Nottingham Forest as Dyche's replacement. Final terms are currently being finalized. If Pereira is appointed, Forest will have their fourth official coach in a single season, a Premier League record.
Pereira was sacked by Wolves in November but successfully helped the team avoid relegation last season. He also has a relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, having previously managed Olympiacos in 2015.
Nottingham Forest faces a demanding schedule ahead, with an away trip to Fenerbahce in the Europa League on 19/2 before clashing with Liverpool in the Premier League on 22/2.
