Ronaldo and Felix miss chance in Al Nassr win

Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix stumbled over each other, missing a golden opportunity, as Al Nassr defeated Toulouse 2-1 in a friendly match on 30/7.

In the 10th minute, with the score at 0-0, Al Nassr launched an attack. The ball moved between Felix, Ronaldo, and out to the left wing.

Sadio Mane cut into the penalty area and passed the ball across the face of goal, past goalkeeper Guillaume Restes. With an open net beckoning, both Ronaldo and Felix rushed towards the ball, colliding with each other near the goal line and failing to make contact, squandering the chance.

Soon after, Yann Gboho opened the scoring for Toulouse. However, Ronaldo redeemed himself, equalizing with a close-range finish in the 33rd minute after Wesley Ribeiro broke the offside trap and crossed from the right wing.

Ronaldo left the field at half-time, while Felix played until the 59th minute. With Al Nassr fielding only domestic players in the latter stages, Mohammed Maran secured a 2-1 victory with a header.

Following the match, Ronaldo shared two photos celebrating his goal on social media with the determined message: "The hunger never fades. Still a lot of work to do, and we are just getting started".

This was Al Nassr's first pre-season match and Felix's debut. The Portuguese forward joined Al Nassr from Chelsea for approximately 57 million USD, earning 564,000 USD per week.

In the Premier League, Felix's salary would be the second highest, behind only Erling Haaland (670,000 USD per week) and higher than Liverpool's Mohamed Salah (537,000 USD per week).

After their training camp in Austria, Al Nassr will travel to Spain to face Almeria at Estadio Mediterraneo on 11/8. Ronaldo and his teammates will begin their new season with the Saudi Arabian Super Cup semi-final against Karim Benzema's Al Ittihad on 19/8.

This presents Ronaldo with an opportunity to win his first official title in the Middle East. In 16 previous tournaments with Al Nassr, the 40-year-old has only won the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, an exhibition tournament, after a 2-1 comeback victory against Al Hilal in the final. The tournament wasn't held in 2024.
