According to Sports Mail, Sinner and Cahill made a wager before the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz. If Sinner won, he would decide Cahill's future. Cahill had previously announced his intention to part ways with Sinner after the 2025 season.
Since joining Sinner's team in the summer of 2022, Cahill has guided him from a rising star to the world's top ranking, securing four Grand Slams and the ATP Finals. Earlier this year, before the Australian Open, Sinner revealed Cahill's plans to leave at the end of the year. Cahill had stated he wouldn't work full-time with another player after leaving Sinner.
After Sinner's Wimbledon victory on 13/7, Cahill declined to comment on his future, deferring to Sinner. "Ask Sinner," Cahill said. "He won, so he gets to decide my fate."

Sinner embraced Cahill after claiming his first Wimbledon title, a victory that came almost a month after his five-set loss to Alcaraz in the French Open final. Shortly after that loss, Sinner dismissed two fitness coaches for revealing he had cried in the locker room.
"I was looking for someone honest, someone who could give me a lot, not just on the court, but in life," Sinner said of Cahill, expressing his desire for the coach to stay. "The season is still long, and it’s hard to predict anything. But I won the bet, so let’s see what happens."
Sinner and Cahill will take a few weeks off before returning for the North American hard-court season, where Sinner will defend his US Open and ATP Finals titles.
