The Vietnamese sports community is mourning the sudden passing of tennis and pickleball player Le Cong Tien. The 31-year-old athlete died on the afternoon of 10/1, after three days of intensive care at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM).
Cong Tien had suffered a stroke on 7/1 while commuting and was promptly hospitalized. Despite efforts, a miracle did not occur. His unexpected death has left many saddened within the country's tennis and pickleball circles.

Cong Tien was a familiar figure in Vietnamese sports. He studied at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and excelled in tennis. He was considered a promising young talent for the Army team, known for his strong technical skills and professional competitive spirit. At the time of his passing, Cong Tien was ranked 17th in men's singles by the Vietnam Tennis Federation.
As the pickleball movement grew in popularity, the 31-year-old player expanded his involvement, competing in both tennis and pickleball. Beyond participating in tournaments with top Vietnamese players, Cong Tien also worked as an instructor, sharing his expertise.
Just before his death, Cong Tien attended the wedding of fellow player Nguyen Van Phuong. He also competed in many major tournaments and was a key member of the Zorba X pickleball club, where he partnered with Ly Hoang Nam in doubles.
