Phorntep set the starting bid at 2,000 baht (approximately 63 USD). Interested individuals can place bids directly under the post. The auction runs until 7 PM on 20/12, coinciding with the conclusion of the sepak takraw event at SEA Games 33.
Beyond the auction, Phorntep also appealed to the community to contribute to an education fund for sergeant Sathawat's daughter. "Every donation offers an educational opportunity for his daughter," Thinbangbon shared, adding a message in memory of his friend. "Every kind heart provides great encouragement for the family of someone who sacrificed for the nation."
This tragic loss occurred amidst a renewed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, which reignited on the afternoon of 7/12, following several weeks of calm. Both Bangkok and Phnom Penh asserted their right to self-defense, accusing the other of attacking their territory. This escalation led to Cambodia withdrawing all its athletes from SEA Games 33, just one day after attending the opening ceremony.
Sepak takraw, a traditional sport in Southeast Asia, has evolved from folk games into an international sport, giving rise to the International Sepaktakraw Federation. The name combines "sepak" (Malay for "kick") and "takraw" (rattan ball). The SEA Games features three sepak takraw events: standard sepak takraw, hoop takraw, and chinlone (artistic sepak takraw), each emphasizing different skills and coordination.
For SEA Games 33, a total of 11 sepak takraw events will be contested across three categories. Ahead of the home games, Suebsak Phunsueb, head of the Thai sepak takraw team, stated the team aims to win all 11 gold medals.
