The most expensive divorces in sports

Hulk Hogan, Thierry Henry, Shaquille O'Neal, and Tiger Woods are among the sports stars who have endured lengthy and costly divorces.

Hulk Hogan and Linda Claridge's divorce settlement reached 13 million USD. Wrestling legend Hogan married model Linda Claridge in 1983. This was his longest marriage and coincided with the peak of his career in both WWE and Hollywood. They had two children: Brooke (born in 1988) and Nick (born in 1990). However, the marriage broke down when Linda filed for divorce in 2007, alleging infidelity.

The couple engaged in a bitter legal battle before reaching a final agreement. Linda received 70% of their liquid assets, 40% of their company interests, and about 3 million USD in cash, totaling approximately 13 million USD.

Thierry Henry and Claire Merry's divorce cost the French soccer legend 16 million USD. Henry married model Claire Merry in 2003 and they had one daughter. After Henry transferred to Barcelona and was suspected of infidelity, the couple divorced in 2008. Merry received approximately 16 million USD in the settlement.

Ryan Giggs and Stacey Cooke's divorce resulted in a 31 million USD settlement. Former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs had a long-term relationship with Stacey Cooke since their youth. They had three children and married in 2007. The marriage ended after a series of Giggs' infidelity scandals, including an affair with his brother's wife. Cooke received 31 million USD, nearly half of Giggs' assets at the time.

Shaquille O'Neal and Shaunie O'Neal divorced in 2009. Despite a prenuptial agreement, Shaunie received 33 million USD. The basketball legend married Shaunie in 2002 and they had four children. Despite the divorce, they continue to co-parent their children and maintain a friendly relationship.

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren's highly publicized divorce in 2010 resulted in a 100 million USD settlement for Nordegren. The once world number one golfer married Swedish model Elin Nordegren in 2004. They have two children, Sam Alexis and Charlie Axel. The marriage dissolved after Woods' infidelity scandal rocked the sports world. Nordegren received custody of the children. The two now maintain a friendly relationship for their children's sake.

In late 2009, the sports world was shocked by rumors of Woods' infidelity. The first woman named was Rachel Uchitel, a former nightclub manager in New York. According to the National Enquirer, Uchitel was seen with Woods at a hotel in Melbourne, Australia, where he was competing in a golf tournament. Initially, both denied the affair, but Uchitel later admitted to a relationship with the golfer.

Following the initial revelation, the American media quickly uncovered a series of other extramarital affairs. Within weeks, more than 10 women claimed to have had relationships with Woods. These relationships spanned many years during his marriage to Nordegren.

Greg Norman and Laura Andrassy's 2006 divorce settlement reached 103 million USD. The Australian golf legend married Andrassy in 1981 and they had two children. After 25 years of marriage, they divorced.

Andre Agassi and Brooke Shields divorced in 1999. Agassi, a tennis superstar who once held the world number one ranking, married actress Brooke Shields in 1997. They had no children together. They reportedly agreed to a settlement of approximately 130 million USD, equivalent to 8.45 million USD per month during their two-year marriage. Shields revealed in her memoir that the divorce helped her escape a stressful relationship and that she felt fortunate not to have had children with Agassi.

Frank McCourt and Jamie McCourt's 2011 divorce resulted in a 130 million USD settlement for Jamie. The former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, Frank McCourt, divorced his wife Jamie, who had been a co-owner of the team. Under the agreement, she received the settlement and relinquished all rights related to the Dodgers. They have children together but have kept their personal lives private.

Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy's 2006 divorce remains one of the most expensive in sports history, with a 168 million USD settlement. The basketball legend married Vanoy in 1989 and they have three children: Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine. Despite the split, they maintain a friendly relationship to co-parent their children.
