The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), the V-League organizers, sent two official letters to Quang Nam FC on 22/7 and 23/7, requesting a detailed report on the club's participation in the upcoming national professional football leagues.
However, the Quang Nam team has not yet responded.
Due to the urgency of preparing for the new season, VPF has requested Quang Nam to officially confirm their registration for the tournaments. The confirmation must be sent to VPF before 5 PM on 23/7.

"If Quang Nam does not send a written confirmation of their registration after the deadline, the club will be officially considered withdrawn," the VPF's letter stated. "We will report to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to handle related matters according to regulations."
If Quang Nam withdraws, the 2025-2026 V-League will have only 13 teams. The VFF and VPF will then have to recalculate the organizational plans. The league may accept playing with 13 teams and have only one relegation spot. Alternatively, the second-best team in the 2024-2025 First Division, Binh Phuoc FC, could be promoted. The decision will be made after a meeting of the 9th VFF Executive Committee.
On 1/7, Quang Nam province and Da Nang city merged to become Da Nang city. Rumors of a merger between the two clubs have circulated since then. However, both teams initially registered for the 2025-2026 V-League. According to the schedule, Quang Nam was set to play SLNA in the first round on 15/8.
Quang Nam even co-hosted a pre-season friendly tournament with Da Nang, HAGL, V-League newcomer Ninh Binh, and a South Korean student team. They played on 20/7 and drew 1-1 with Da Nang.
However, on the afternoon of 21/7, Quang Nam FC's CEO Nguyen Trong unexpectedly met with the team members to announce their withdrawal from the 2025-2026 V-League. Players under contract will be absorbed by Da Nang FC for the upcoming V-League season, while those on trial are free to negotiate with other teams.

On the morning of 22/7, Quang Nam presented two solutions. The first proposal was to request Da Nang city leaders to seek and invite local businesses with sufficient capacity, dedication, and commitment to support the club's long-term development and maintain the Quang Nam youth football training center. If feasible, the team would be retained.
The second option was for Quang Nam to disband and merge with Da Nang FC. The 2017 V-League champions proposed transferring all staff, employees, athletes, young players, and professional players from the club and the Quang Nam youth football training center to Da Nang FC.
Quang Nam FC was founded in 1997 after the separation of Quang Nam-Da Nang province. Initially, they mainly competed in the Second and First Divisions, reaching the V-League in 2014. In 2017, they unexpectedly won the V-League, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the province's re-establishment.
Quang Nam's performance declined after that peak, even facing relegation in the 2020 V-League. In 2023, they won the First Division again, earning promotion to the 2023-2024 V-League. However, the team has struggled in the past two seasons, finishing 11th out of 14 teams.
