Vietnam finished 62nd at the 2025 World Games, behind Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Vietnam secured two silver medals and one bronze, all in wushu, at the games which concluded yesterday, 17/8. Do Huy Hoang lost to host nation athlete Tang Si Shuo in the men's under 56kg final, earning a silver medal. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy also fell short against host competitor Li Zhi Qin in the women's under 60kg final. Ngo Thi Phuong Nga defeated Filipino Krizan Faith Collado in the women's under 52kg bronze medal match.

Tran Quyet Chien was expected to medal in billiards, specifically carom 3-cushion. However, he lost to Martin Horn (Germany) 34-40 in the bronze medal match.

China topped the medal table with 36 golds, 17 silvers, and 11 bronzes. Germany came in second with 17 golds, 14 silvers, and 14 bronzes. Ukraine, Italy, and France rounded out the top 5. The United States finished 6th with 11 golds, 10 silvers, and 7 bronzes.

Thailand had the best performance among Southeast Asian nations, ranking 19th with 4 golds, 4 silvers, and 17 bronzes. Indonesia followed closely behind in 20th place with 4 golds, 4 silvers, and one bronze. Malaysia, with one medal of each color, ranked 45th. The Philippines finished just above Vietnam with two silvers and two bronzes. Singapore placed right behind Vietnam with one silver and three bronzes. Brunei secured one silver in wushu, landing in 71st place. No other Southeast Asian nations won medals.

Considering efficiency, Malaysia performed best in the region, sending only 5 athletes but winning three medals. Indonesia sent slightly more athletes than Vietnam (28 compared to 26) but achieved significantly better results.

The World Games are held every four years, the year after the Olympics, and were first held in 1981. The event is organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA), under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). After this edition, Vietnam's all-time medal count stands at 5 golds, three silvers, and one bronze, dropping two places to 49th in the overall rankings.

This year's games took place from 7/8 to 17/8 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, with around 4,000 athletes competing in 34 sports and 256 events. The sports were divided into six groups: dance & artistic sports, ball sports, martial arts, precision sports, strength sports, and trend sports. With the exception of archery, most of the sports are not part of the Olympic program.

Vietnam participated with 26 athletes competing in seven sports: aerobic gymnastics, beach handball, billiards, boules sports, kickboxing, muay Thai, and wushu.
