Entering the third set, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet adjusted the lineup, bringing in several reserve players. This allowed the Philippines to rally. The two teams exchanged points before Vietnam pulled ahead 21-19.
With nothing to lose, the Philippines fought back vigorously. They unexpectedly tied the score and then took the lead 24-23. Kieu Trinh then served the ball out, giving the Philippines the set 25-23.
After tightening their formation, Vietnam entered the fourth set with varied attacks. Bich Tuyen, Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Trinh, and Nguyen Uyen took turns delivering powerful spikes, leading Vietnam 10-3, 18-6, and finally 25-9. With the overall 3-1 victory, the team will compete for the championship against Thailand at 5 PM on 3/8.
The SEA V-League has been held seven times, and Thailand has always been the champion. With their current strong performance and lineup, Vietnam is expected to challenge the host's dominance. The tournament also serves as a qualifier for two spots in the AVC Nations Cup 2026. Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines will compete for these two spots, while Thailand will participate in the Volleyball Nations League.
