Which team will be relegated from V-League 2024-2025?

1.5 relegation spots to the second division next season are now a race between Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Binh Dinh.

The 26th round of V-League will take place simultaneously at 5 p.m. today, 22/6. Quang Nam will play away against HAGL, Binh Dinh will host Ha Noi FC, and Da Nang will host SLNA. None of the three teams' opponents have anything left to play for this season.

Binh Dinh is at the bottom of the table with 21 points, one point behind Da Nang and four points behind Quang Nam. After points, the second criteria for V-League rankings is the head-to-head record between teams with equal points. The four sub-criteria applied are points, goal difference, goals scored, and then away goals scored.

In terms of head-to-head record, Da Nang holds an advantage over both rivals. Against Quang Nam, they lost 2-3 away but won 1-0 at home, giving them the advantage in away goals. Against Binh Dinh, Da Nang won both matches, 2-1 and 3-1.

To avoid direct relegation, Binh Dinh must win against Ha Noi FC and hope that Da Nang doesn't win against SLNA. In that scenario, they would secure a spot in the relegation play-off.

Quang Nam only needs a draw against HAGL to guarantee their safety. If they lose, they must hope that Da Nang also loses. If Da Nang wins, Quang Nam will play a relegation play-off against the second-placed team in the second division, Binh Phuoc.

The play-off match is scheduled for 5 p.m. on 27/6 at Thong Nhat Stadium. The match will use VAR. The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has also invited two foreign referees, one for the main officiating and the other for VAR operation.

The championship race was decided in the previous round. With 54 points, Nam Dinh secured their second consecutive title, matching the achievements of HAGL (2003, 2004), Long An (2005, 2006), Binh Duong (2007, 2008 and 2014, 2015) and Ha Noi FC (2018, 2019).

The team from Nam Dinh offered free entry to Thien Truong Stadium for fans to watch their match against Ha Tinh this afternoon and witness the trophy presentation.

Meanwhile, Ha Noi FC secured the runner-up position with 46 points. The capital team has consistently finished in the top three of V-League since the 2010 season.

The race for third place is more intense between Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) and The Cong, with 42 and 41 points respectively. CAHN will host Hai Phong at home, while The Cong will borrow Lach Tray Stadium to host CLB TP HCM.

If CAHN loses and The Cong draws, the two teams will have the same number of points and head-to-head record – each team winning one match with a score of 2-1. In this case, CAHN would still be ahead due to a superior goal difference of +20 compared to The Cong's +12.
