Born in 1995 in Tuyen Quang, Xuan Truong is a product of the first generation of the HAGL Arsenal JMG Academy. He shone playing for the Vietnam U19, U23, and national teams.
He also played abroad for Incheon United (2016), Gangwon (2017), and Buriram (2019) on loan. After his contract with HAGL expired at the end of 2022, Xuan Truong joined Hai Phong in 2023 and Ha Tinh a year later.
Xuan Truong was part of the Vietnam U23 team that finished as runners-up in the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, won the 2018 AFF Cup (now ASEAN Cup), and won the Vietnamese Silver Ball award in 2016.
Binh Phuoc FC was founded in 2006 and debuted in the Third Division a year later. They were promoted to the Second Division in 2011 but were relegated again, before two consecutive promotions landed them in the First Division in 2015. Last season, they invested heavily and finished second in the First Division, earning a play-off spot for promotion but lost to Da Nang.
After missing out on promotion to V-League 1, Binh Phuoc underwent significant restructuring. They parted ways with head coach Huynh Quoc Anh and 13 players: Tran Phi Son, Nguyen Khac Vu, Tran Anh Thi, Truong Du Dat, Tran Nhat Ha, Tran Dam Phuc Thinh, Tong Anh Ty, Tran Manh Hung, Nguyen Van Quy, Le Van Nam, Hoang Minh Tam, Nguyen Tai Loc, and Duong Van Trung.
Conversely, the team also reached agreements with coach Nguyen Viet Thang and two players, Tran Minh Vuong and Le Van Son, from HAGL.
