China has begun harvesting 2,000 tons of durian in Hainan, but experts say the small yield and high price are unlikely to immediately impact Vietnam's affordable, high-quality durian.

For the first time, exported fresh durian will be subject to a dedicated food safety process, covering everything from cultivation to packaging and transport.

After a period of decline, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports rebounded strongly in June, with positive signs from the US and Northeast Asian markets.
