Associate Professor Doan Van Truong, 36, deputy secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Youth Union, has been appointed party secretary of Pu Nhi, a border commune.

After merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City now has 168 administrative units at the commune level. Phu Giao ward is the largest, covering 192.83 km2, and Di An ward is the most populous with 227,817 residents.
