Early morning cloud-hunting spots in Mang Den

Doi Tien Nhan, Thung Lung May, and San May are three cafes that open at 5 a.m., offering visitors stunning photos with seas of clouds.

Around 7 a.m., the clouds dissipate, revealing the terraced fields below.

A young woman poses on a swing at Doi Tien Nhan, a cafe in Kon Tu Rang Village, about 30 km from the center of Mang Den commune.

Despite the distance and challenging route, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of the sea of clouds in the early morning.

The ideal time for cloud hunting typically begins in September and lasts until April of the following year. The combination of less rain, low nighttime temperatures, and a significant difference between day and night temperatures creates favorable conditions for cloud formation.

The cafe's wooden decor creates a rustic atmosphere. It opens at 5 a.m. and offers a variety of drinks ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 VND.

The sea of clouds envelops the valley beside Doi Tien Nhan from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Duong Thuy Hang, 42, from Hanoi, shared that her cloud-hunting experience at Doi Tien Nhan was unique. She described the clouds as appearing in layers, floating gently as if time stood still, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle of daily life.

Many visitors enjoy capturing the magical moment with the clouds.

The entrance fee, which includes a beverage, is 25,000 VND. The cafe opens at 5 a.m. Early birds might spot flocks of migrating birds seeking warmer climates.

Binh from Buon Ma Thuot visited Mang Den to hunt clouds at Thung Lung May cafe. Located on the highway in the center of Mang Den commune, it's easily accessible.

Tran Gia Phuoc, 39, and her husband from Gia Lai chose San May Coffee and Homestay as their destination to capture photos with the clouds.

Located in the "37 households" area of Mang Canh commune, the cafe boasts colorful flowers such as hydrangeas, petunias, and orchids. Guests can hunt clouds in the early morning or late afternoon.

Besides the flora, the cafe features a heart-shaped "wind-welcoming" bridge for photo opportunities.

San May opens at 5:30 a.m. The entrance fee is 30,000 VND per person, or visitors can purchase a drink instead, priced between 35,000 and 55,000 VND.

From San May Coffee and Homestay, visitors can also observe flocks of white storks migrating to escape the cold.

Mang Den (Quang Ngai province), situated 1,200 m above sea level, is often called the "second Da Lat" due to its year-round cool climate. With over 75% forest coverage and a rich ecosystem, it's ideal for ecotourism, relaxation, and community-based experiences.

Thanks to sustainable tourism development, visitor numbers have increased rapidly from 120,000 in 2021 to 1.2 million in 2024, and are projected to reach 1.5 million in 2025, generating approximately 1,345 billion VND in revenue.

Quang Ngai has identified Mang Den as a western growth pole, connecting the coast and forests, with the goal of becoming a National Tourist Area by 2030.
