Hang Ma street bustles with early Mid-Autumn Festival crowds

Two weeks before the Mid-Autumn Festival, Hang Ma street is awash with vibrant colors from lanterns and toys, attracting large crowds of visitors who flock to check in early, filling the 300-meter-long street.

On the weekend, residents and visitors from all over crowded Hang Ma street. The pleasant weather, around 28 degrees Celsius, was perfect for outdoor activities.

From 6 p.m., the old streets around Hang Ma street became crowded, with people inching along. Children were carried on their parents' shoulders to enjoy the view from above.

Many young people took the opportunity to pose for photos amidst the dense crowd.

Nguyen Van Tuyen, 31, from Hoai Duc (Hanoi), traveled nearly 20 km to Hang Ma street with his family. This is the third consecutive year he has brought his children to the area to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Due to the large crowds, the family struggled to find a good spot for photos.

“I took advantage of the weekend to take my wife and children out, because during the actual Mid-Autumn Festival, it would probably be too crowded to go anywhere", Tuyen said.

Many families prepared special outfits for their children. Vu Thi Thao bought her grandson a lion dance costume for 350,000 VND.

“This is the first time my grandson has experienced the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere in Hanoi, so I wanted to give him a truly meaningful gift", Thao said.

A Sun Wukong character walked along the 300-meter street inviting guests to buy candies and cakes, much to the delight of many children.

Giant models of a crescent moon, white rabbit, and carp were hung on the roof of house number 78 Hang Ma street. Every Mid-Autumn Festival, Christmas, or Lunar New Year, this house is decorated with large models, attracting many visitors to take pictures.

In addition to decorations, various folk masks, star lanterns, and lanterns with many new designs attracted buyers. The price of each item ranged from 30,000 to 70,000 VND.

“This year, there are many new items, and the number of customers is also higher than in the same period in previous years", said Nguyen Thi Van, a shop owner.

Shops on the street were crowded with customers choosing decorations. Star lanterns and regular lanterns were the most sought-after items.

This Mid-Autumn Festival, paper carp models were displayed in many stores. Shop owners also used various methods to attract children, such as spraying bubbles and wearing masks.
