Hanoi among Asia's top autumn destinations

Time Out magazine has selected Hanoi as an ideal autumn getaway, highlighting the city's vibrant foliage, cool air, and the colorful Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in the Old Quarter.

Hanoi has secured the 5th spot on Time Out's list of best Asian cities for autumn foliage viewing. The British magazine describes Vietnam's capital as having "a unique autumnal charm" compared to other destinations on the continent.

While Hanoi may not be a widely recognized autumn destination for international tourists, Time Out recommends strolling around Hoan Kiem Lake to admire the characteristic red and gold leaves. Autumn in northern Vietnam also coincides with the harvest season and the Mid-Autumn Festival, offering a rich cultural experience. Besides sightseeing, visitors can immerse themselves in the festivities, enjoying traditional music, lion dances, and mooncakes filled with lotus seeds, salted egg yolks, and mung beans.

"As night falls, the streets glow with a myriad of lanterns, creating a magical and enchanting scene," Time Out describes.

The publication suggests October as the prime time to experience Hanoi's autumn.

Alongside Vietnam's capital, the list features Ibaraki and Kyoto (Japan); Nami Island (South Korea); Alishan National Scenic Area (Taiwan, China); Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park (China).

Time Out is a magazine specializing in lifestyle, food, travel, art, and entertainment. Founded in 1968 in London (England), the magazine now operates as a digital platform, providing recommendations for restaurants, events, and unique experiences, serving as a reliable resource for both tourists and locals.
