The Tumen River Beer House opened in early September with North Korean officials in attendance, according to Korean Central Television (KCTV). Leader Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the construction of the new-style beer hall. Located in Rason, a city bordering Russia, the beer house welcomes international visitors as Pyongyang strengthens its border region development policy.

The two-story Tumen River Beer House features a facade decorated with images of beer foam and two large beer barrels bearing the Tumen River Beer brand. Inside, the beer hall offers ample seating and a designated area for large groups. The beers served are supplied by the Rongsong General Processing Plant in Rason.
Russian media report that Rason's Tumen River 11 beer is exported to the Russian Far East, suggesting some acceptance of the product among Russians. Analysts see the beer hall's opening as part of a local economic development strategy and an attempt to attract Russian tourists.

Following a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed last year, relations between Russia and North Korea have grown stronger, with several infrastructure projects around the Tumen River underway. In addition to the existing railway line, Russia plans to open a road bridge across the river next year. This is expected to significantly increase the number of Russian tourists visiting Rason, creating greater demand for entertainment and dining services.
