Russian tourists flock to Khanh Hoa

With nearly 30 flights per week, Russian tourist arrivals to Khanh Hoa have surged by 300% in the first eight months of the year, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. This is thanks to direct flights, reasonable costs, and open visa policies.

Khanh Hoa province welcomed 279,000 Russian tourists in the first eight months of the year, a nearly 300% increase compared to the same period in 2024, and higher than the same period in 2019 (before the pandemic), according to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Currently, there are about 30 flights per week from Russian cities to Cam Ranh International Airport. This includes 26 charter flights operated by Ikar Airlines, IrAero Airlines, Vietjet Air, Azur Air, and RedWings, and four commercial flights by Aeroflot.

Airlines like Aeroflot and Nordwind are expected to increase direct flights from several Russian cities to Khanh Hoa in late September and early October.

Pham Minh Nhut, chairman of the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, said the surge in Russian tourists is due to the resumption of direct flights. Favorable weather, reasonable travel costs, and attractive local cuisine also make "Khanh Hoa an attractive choice".

Cung Quynh Anh, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, attributed the recovery of Russian tourists to the open visa policy. Each Russian tourist can stay in Khanh Hoa for 15-30 days and "return multiple times". The province is also actively promoting tourism and diversifying its tourism products, creating a professional tourism business environment.

Khanh Hoa welcomed over 12.8 million tourists in the first eight months of the year, including 3.7 million international visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at over 50,500 billion VND. With the current growth momentum, the province's tourism industry expects to break the record of 463,000 Russian tourists for the entire year of 2019.

In the coming time, the province will continue promoting tourism in other key markets such as South Korea, China, and Europe, aiming to welcome 5.4 million international tourists in 2025.
