Zhao Leji, a member of the standing committee of the political bureau of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the standing committee of the National People's Congress, landed at Noi Bai international airport at noon, according to the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN).
National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong led the welcoming delegation at the airport.
Zhao's official visit, from 31/8 to 2/9, is at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The Chinese leader will attend celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day. He will also co-chair the first meeting of the cooperation committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China with National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
The Chinese delegation will participate in the parade commemorating Vietnam's 80th National Day, alongside delegations from Russia, Cambodia, and Laos. 120 Chinese military personnel arrived in Vietnam on 29/8 to participate in the event at the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.
China was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, on 18/1/1950. The two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2008. In 2023, they issued a joint statement on elevating their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to promote the building of a community with a shared future of strategic significance.
In terms of trade, in 2024, Vietnam maintained its position as China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and its 4th largest national trading partner (after the US, Japan, and South Korea).

Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh said Zhao's visit demonstrates the mutual respect and strong political commitment of both countries to strengthening and deepening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo emphasized that Zhao's visit is an opportunity for the Chinese Party and government to extend warm congratulations to the Vietnamese Party and government on the occasion of the 80th National Day, demonstrating China's importance placed on the relationship between the two parties and countries, and promoting the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
