Kim Hae-kyung, South Korea's first lady, invited Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of Vietnam's general secretary, for tea and a tour of the National Museum of Korea on 11/8, according to the Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN).
At the event, Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her hope for continued development in the relationship between the two countries and their people, further meeting the needs and aspirations of both nations.
The two first ladies emphasized the cultural similarities between Vietnam and South Korea as a foundation for increased friendly exchanges and broader cooperation. They agreed on the crucial role of people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation in strengthening the social foundation of the Vietnam-South Korea relationship.
Ngo Phuong Ly affirmed Vietnam's favorable conditions for developing an advanced and modern cultural industry, reflecting the nation's identity. She expressed her desire for South Korea to share its experience and collaborate more closely with Vietnam in the cultural industry. This includes supporting technology transfer in music production, film, fashion, and the application of advanced technology in creative cultural products and copyright protection.

Ngo Phuong Ly also requested the South Korean government's continued support and facilitation for the Vietnamese community in South Korea, including women, to better integrate into Korean life and contribute to the bilateral friendship.
Kim Hae-kyung praised the efforts of Vietnamese brides in integrating into Korean society and contributing to the country's development. She affirmed South Korea's commitment to implementing effective support policies for multicultural Vietnamese-Korean families, ensuring stable lives and fostering a sense of pride in both cultures for the younger generation, who will become special bridges of friendship between the two nations.
The South Korean first lady shared her and her husband's fondness for Vietnamese cuisine, particularly banh mi, bun cha, and banh xeo.
During the tour of the National Museum of Korea, Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her admiration for the museum's nuanced and evocative presentation of Korean history and culture. She emphasized the visit as an opportunity to better appreciate the similarities and deep cultural exchange between Vietnam and South Korea.
General Secretary To Lam and his wife made a state visit to South Korea from 10-13/8 at the invitation of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and his wife. The Vietnamese leader was the first foreign guest of the Lee Jae-myung administration, which took office in early June.
During their talks on 11/8, General Secretary To Lam and President Lee Jae-myung expressed confidence in the continued development of the Vietnam-South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the benefit of both nations, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and globally.
The Vietnamese and South Korean leaders subsequently issued a joint statement outlining six key areas for enhanced cooperation: strengthening political trust and promoting practical cooperation in diplomacy, defense, and security; enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as scientific and technological cooperation; promoting cooperation in labor, health, and education; strengthening cooperation in sustainable development, climate change response, agriculture, and infrastructure; deepening cooperation in culture, sports, tourism, media, and people-to-people exchanges; and close cooperation in international and regional forums and mechanisms.
