South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung hosted General Secretary To Lam and his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, at the Blue House in Seoul this morning for a tea party featuring traditional arts performances from both countries.

This event was part of the General Secretary's state visit to South Korea from 10/8 to 13/8, at the invitation of President Lee and the First Lady.

General Secretary To Lam, President Lee, and their wives strolled through the Blue House grounds.

The Blue House is a symbol of power in South Korea. After his election last June, President Lee announced he would work from the Blue House, three years after it was opened to the public under former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The South Korean President and First Lady also experienced the art of the Vietnamese lithophone.

The lithophone is an ancient Vietnamese instrument recognized by UNESCO as part of the Central Highlands Gong Culture Space. It is made of stone bars of varying lengths, thicknesses, and widths. Longer, thicker, and wider bars produce deeper tones, while shorter, thinner, and narrower bars produce higher-pitched sounds.

General Secretary To Lam is the first foreign guest of the Lee Jae-myung administration.

During their talks on 11/8, General Secretary To Lam and President Lee expressed confidence that the Vietnam-South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership would continue to develop substantively, effectively, and sustainably for the benefit of both nations, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The two leaders also issued a joint statement outlining six key areas for enhanced cooperation to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
