"Jews have the right to live safely anywhere. However, we understand what is happening, and we have historical experience with this. Jews are being persecuted worldwide", Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated at a candle-lighting event concluding Hanukkah on 21/12.
Saar called on Jews in several countries, including the UK, France, Australia, Canada, and Belgium, to "come to the land of Israel" and "return home."
The statement followed a shooting at Bondi beach in Australia a week prior, which resulted in 15 fatalities. Australian officials accused two suspects of targeting the Jewish community as they celebrated Hanukkah.

Since the conflict erupted in the Gaza Strip in 10/2023, Israeli leaders have repeatedly condemned the wave of anti-Semitism in Western countries, criticizing governments for failing to address the issue.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week called on Western governments to better protect Jewish citizens and implement necessary measures to combat anti-Semitism.
According to Israel's "Law of Return" from 1950, all Jews worldwide have the right to settle in Israel and receive Israeli citizenship. This law also applies to individuals with a Jewish grandparent.
