"We have taken note of President Trump's statement yesterday. The special military operation continues," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said today.
"We remain committed to pursuing a peaceful process to resolve the conflict related to Ukraine and ensure our interests," he added.

Peskov also noted that efforts to restore relations between Russia and the US have slowed following President Donald Trump's comments.
"We would like to see more momentum. We are interested in that. To move forward together, we need impetus from both sides," he emphasized.
On 14/7, President Trump issued an ultimatum, giving Moscow 50 days to accept an agreement to end the conflict with Kyiv, or face tariffs and severe sanctions on Russia and its partners. He said the 50-day deadline was "not too long" and sufficient to address the conflict.
However, on 28/7, the president declared that Russia only had 10-12 days left to resolve the issue. He stated there was "no reason to wait" and saw no progress in the Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations over the past two weeks.
The latest round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine last week yielded no breakthrough. The two sides only agreed on a prisoner exchange.
