Texas officials stated that the plane crashed while approaching Galveston Scholes International Airport. The US National Weather Service reported dense fog in the area in recent days, significantly reducing visibility. Some witnesses reported that visibility was almost zero at the time of the crash.
This was a joint flight between the Mexican navy and the Michou y Mau Foundation, a non-profit organization specializing in supporting treatment for severely burned Mexican children. Some sources revealed that the aircraft was transporting burn patients for treatment at a hospital in Galveston.
The Mexican navy only announced that the aircraft experienced an incident during its journey, without providing details. The agency stated that it would cooperate with US officials to investigate the cause of the accident and assist with search and rescue operations at the scene.
