Former US President Donald Trump said on 13/8/2025 that if his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska goes well, he wants the two leaders to hold a trilateral summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I want to do that almost immediately. We will have a brief meeting between President Putin, President Zelensky, and myself, if they would like me to be involved," Trump said.
However, Trump warned he would cancel the event if he felt Putin was "not acting in good faith" during their meeting on 15/8. "There may not be a second meeting if I feel that it's not appropriate because I'm not getting the right answers," he added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier held a virtual meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Trump, and other European and NATO leaders ahead of the US-Russia summit.
Trump stated he had "very good" discussions with European leaders and warned Russia would face "serious consequences" if it did not halt its campaign in Ukraine, but he did not specify what those consequences would be.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Trump agreed that Ukraine should be involved in discussions about territorial concessions. "President Trump made it very clear that the US wants to see a ceasefire agreement at the Alaska meeting," Macron said.
President Zelensky said Trump supported the idea of establishing a security guarantee agreement after the conflict ends.
The planned US-Russia summit was announced amid Trump's struggles to find a solution to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Russia's intensified offensive on the battlefield, coupled with President Zelensky's exclusion from the summit, raised concerns that Trump and Putin might reach an agreement requiring significant concessions from Ukraine.
Trump previously threatened secondary sanctions against Russia's trading partners if Moscow did not demonstrate a willingness to end the war. However, the deadline Trump set for Russia passed last week without the US announcing any measures.
