"I am incredibly honored to have served as the 23rd air force chief of staff. I thank Secretary of the Air Force, Troy Meink, Secretary Pete Hegseth, and President Donald Trump for the trust they placed in me to lead our force," Allvin said in a statement on 18/8.
General Allvin stated he will retire around 1/11. It remains unclear whether his resignation was voluntary or requested by Pentagon leaders.
The US air force declined to comment.

Allvin assumed his position in November 2023. In February 2024, he and other air force leaders announced a series of structural changes to the force, aimed at improving combat readiness.
This unexpected move is unusual, as air force chiefs of staff typically serve a full 4-year term. In recent years, only two air force chiefs have left their positions early: General CQ Brown, who became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 2023, and General Michael Moseley, who resigned in 2008 following a series of serious scandals.
