General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent congratulatory messages to US President Donald Trump on the 249th anniversary of US independence and the 30th anniversary of US-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also sent a congratulatory message to US Senate President JD Vance and US House Speaker Mike Johnson.
In their messages, Vietnam's top leaders reaffirmed that Vietnam consistently considers the US a key strategic partner and welcomes US support for a "strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous" Vietnam.
Looking back on 30 years of diplomatic relations, especially since the two countries elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, Vietnamese leaders expressed pleasure at the positive developments in bilateral cooperation across all fields, at both the bilateral, regional, and international levels.

Vietnam's leaders emphasized Vietnam's willingness to continue working with the US to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership effectively and substantively, bringing practical benefits to both peoples and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Previously, on the evening of 2/7, General Secretary To Lam spoke with President Donald Trump about US-Vietnam relations and reciprocal tariff negotiations.
President Trump appreciated Vietnam's commitment to granting preferential market access to US goods, including large-engine motorcycles. He affirmed that the US would significantly reduce reciprocal taxes on many Vietnamese exports and continue to cooperate with Vietnam in resolving issues affecting bilateral trade relations, especially in priority areas.
General Secretary To Lam requested the US to soon recognize Vietnam as a market economy and remove export restrictions on some high-tech goods. The two leaders also discussed major directions and measures to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership in the coming years.
