A driver's abrupt exit from an alley onto a main road on 10/1 in Do Ha, An Thi, led to two motorcyclists falling. The car's sudden appearance surprised the motorcyclists, causing them to brake and tumble. Fortunately, the opposite lane was clear. Residents helped the two motorcyclists, who stood up after the collision.
This incident highlights a common road safety issue at intersections between alleys and main roads. Drivers merging from side roads or alleys onto main thoroughfares often fail to observe adequately. In Vietnam, many small alleys have stop signs, yet most drivers merge directly into traffic without fully stopping to check for vehicles.
To prevent accidents, proper driving is crucial. Drivers must stop completely before their vehicle enters the main traffic lane. Observe all directions, merging only when the road is clear, with appropriate signals, and execute the maneuver decisively.
