The traffic situation unfolded as a car from behind encroached into the oncoming lane to overtake a truck. When the car had only pulled ahead by about half the truck's length, its driver steered right to return to the original lane. The front of the truck was still very close, leading to a collision. The impact from the truck caused the car to spin sideways and be thrown off the road.
Regarding driving skills, when overtaking, drivers need to observe widely and assess if there is enough space ahead to complete the maneuver and safely return to their lane. To return to the lane safely, a key condition is being able to see the entire front of the overtaken vehicle in the rearview mirror. Steering back too early can result in common side-swipe collisions, as depicted in the video.
Drivers should not attempt to overtake if there is an intersection, a curve, or obstructed visibility ahead. It is particularly important not to cut in front of a truck too closely. Heavy trucks possess greater inertia, requiring a significantly longer braking distance compared to cars.
