Toyota has begun pre-sales for its new bZ7 electric vehicle in China, with prices ranging from 179,800 to 239,800 yuan for the 600 Pro and 710 Ultra LiDAR versions. This translates to approximately 26,000 to 34,800 USD, depending on the variant. This competitive pricing immediately positions the bZ7 in China's fierce electric vehicle market.
This launch signifies more than just a new price point; it represents a notable shift in Toyota's electric vehicle strategy within the region, emphasizing deep integration with local technology ecosystems.
The bZ7 boasts a modern yet understated fastback design. With a length of 5,100 mm, a width of 1,965 mm, a height of 1,506 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,020 mm, the car is sized like a luxury sedan, placing it alongside models such as the Tesla Model S, BYD Han L, and BMW i5.

The interior presents a clean, technology-focused layout. It features a large 15,6-inch central display, a compact screen for the driver, and a head-up display. This system runs on Huawei's HarmonyOS Cockpit 5.0, offering a seamless user experience.
Traditional automakers have often struggled to fully embrace the China-centric digital ecosystems that local buyers highly value. The adoption of HarmonyOS Cockpit provides crisp graphics, rapid response times, and advanced voice control features. Crucially, it also enables seamless integration with China's extensive ecosystem of connected applications and services, catering directly to local consumer preferences.
Toyota's integration with Xiaomi's smart ecosystem means the bZ7 is compatible with Xiaomi smart home devices. Drivers can control various smart home functions directly from the in-car interface and synchronize personal preferences across devices. This transforms the vehicle into an integral part of a broader digital lifestyle, moving beyond mere transportation.

Advanced driver assistance comes from Momenta's R6 system, which utilizes a combination of sensors and roof-mounted LiDAR. Features include navigation driving assist and automatic parking. Higher-end versions also focus on passenger comfort, offering zero-gravity seats, massage and ventilation functions, a premium sound system, rear-seat tray tables, and even an integrated refrigerator for rear passengers.
The Toyota bZ7 is equipped with Huawei's DriveONE electric system, paired with a CALB LFP battery pack. Depending on the version, Toyota claims an operating range of approximately 600 to 710 km under the CLTC standard, allowing it to compete effectively with key domestic rivals. The car features a 277 horsepower electric motor.
This operating range theoretically places the bZ7 in the same segment as the dual-motor Model S AWD. However, Tesla occupies a different performance category, boasting around 670 horsepower. It also falls into a distinct price bracket, starting at 842,900 yuan, or about 122,000 USD. This price is approximately 4.6 times higher than the standard bZ7 and about 3.5 times higher than the top-tier version.
