Aldi is set to significantly expand its US operations with the planned opening of three new distribution centers. The first facility is expected to begin operations in Baldwin, Florida, in 2027, followed by Goodyear, Arizona, in 2028, and Aurora, Colorado, in 2029. Each new center is projected to create hundreds of local jobs.

In addition to these new facilities, Aldi will expand its existing distribution center in Haines City, Florida. This expansion will add a specialized cold storage area for perishable goods such as fresh meat and produce, enhancing the chain's capacity for handling temperature-sensitive items.
This strategic expansion is part of a USD 9 billion investment package aimed at growing Aldi's presence in the US. The investment includes upgrading its supply chain network and opening 180 new stores by the end of 2026. Aldi anticipates operating nearly 2,800 stores by the end of this year and aims to reach 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.
A key component of this investment strategy involves expanding into the Colorado market over the next five years. The planned distribution center in Aurora will support approximately 50 new stores in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas within its first two years of operation, facilitating rapid market penetration.
Beyond expanding its physical distribution network, Aldi is also advancing initiatives to enhance its supply chain capabilities. In 2024, Aldi International Buying Asia, the global hub responsible for sourcing goods from Asia, implemented artificial intelligence for transportation management. This technology centralizes shipping volumes, improves cost transparency, and strengthens control over the flow of goods.
In the same year, Aldi South Group, the parent company of Aldi U.S., announced its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. To reach this target, the group will collaborate with businesses across its entire value chain to reduce Scope 3 emissions, which represent its largest source of emissions.
Aldi, a grocery retail chain headquartered in Germany, was founded in 1946 and currently operates in over 20 countries across Europe, the US, and Australia. The company employs an "everyday low price" model, focusing on a streamlined product catalog and prioritizing private labels to manage costs and selling prices. In the US, Aldi stands out as a fast-growing supermarket chain, with thousands of stores and an aggressive expansion strategy. The chain emphasizes optimizing its supply chain, logistics, and sustainable development practices.
