The inauguration ceremony for the Qatar Representative Office of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) recently took place in Doha. The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Qatar Cao Xiaolin, CSSC Deputy General Manager Peng Yuanpu, and Abduraman Almurer, a representative from Qatar Energy.
China Shipbuilding Trading (CSTC), a CSSC subsidiary, stated that the opening of the Qatar representative office marks a significant milestone. It ushers in a new phase of cooperation between China and Qatar, transitioning from a project-by-project model to a strategic partnership and from individual collaborations to full value chain coordination.
This new office will serve as a central hub for CSSC to deepen its presence in the Middle Eastern market and support the global energy transition. Its primary goal is to solidify the group's position in the region's liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry hub. Concurrently, it will provide on-site, market-oriented professional support services to regional and international partners. This strategic outpost will also enable CSSC to enhance its participation in the global LNG industrial chain.
Chen Jianliang, Chairman of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, stated that establishing the representative office in Qatar demonstrates Hudong-Zhonghua's commitment to implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and fostering long-term cooperation with global partners.
He added that the company will enhance its commitment to providing full lifecycle services for ships. It aims to expand cooperation in breadth and depth, working towards establishing a customer-centric regional service center that can respond swiftly to market demands.
The Qatar representative office is managed by CSTC, with staff comprising CSTC's marketing team alongside technical and service experts from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding and CSSC Power/Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD).
