The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) has received a request from the European Steel Association (Eurofer) to investigate alleged dumping of certain cold-rolled steel products imported into the European Union (EU) market.
Following this, the EC has officially initiated an anti-dumping investigation into these products from India, Japan, Taiwan, Turkey, and Vietnam. The investigation period for dumping spans from 1/7/2024 to 30/6/2025, while the damage investigation period covers 2022 to 30/6/2025.
The investigation is expected to conclude within one year, with a possible extension of no more than 14 months from the initiation date.
In response to this development, the TRAV recommends that the Vietnam Steel Association, along with manufacturers and exporters of the investigated products, thoroughly examine the situation and fully cooperate with the EC by providing information and documents according to the prescribed format and deadlines. They should also maintain regular communication and information sharing with the TRAV to receive timely support.
Last year, the EC also initiated an anti-dumping investigation into certain hot-rolled steel products from Egypt, India, Japan, and Vietnam. Subsequently, the EC imposed provisional anti-dumping duties of 12.1% on some hot-rolled steel products from Vietnam, excluding those from Hoa Phat Dung Quat.
