Flight VN1, a wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, departed from Hanoi and completed its journey in about two hours. Onboard were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and nearly 100 passengers.
Previously, on 15/12, Vietnam Airlines conducted a technical test flight using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, flight number VN5001. The aircraft landed safely at Long Thanh International Airport, performed a water cannon salute, and then departed for Tan Son Nhat airport.

According to Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), core components of Long Thanh airport are complete. These include runway one, the taxiway system, the aircraft apron in front of the passenger terminal, T1 and T2 connection routes, and the main internal port road, ensuring synchronous operational conditions.
Vietnam Airlines is the first airline to transport passengers to Long Thanh, initiating its commercial operation phase. This event is significant for establishing a new aviation hub, helping to relieve pressure on Tan Son Nhat airport and enhance connectivity for the southern key economic region.
Long Thanh International Airport is a national key project spanning 5,364 hectares. Phase one involves an investment of approximately 5 billion USD, with the total project capital expected to reach 16 billion USD. Upon completion, the airport will have a design capacity of 100 million passengers per year and is anticipated to become one of the region's leading modern aviation hubs.
