The signing ceremony took place on 8/4. Under the agreement, SITA will develop automated and touchless processes at the airport, covering check-in, baggage drop, security control, and boarding using biometrics. This also includes real-time data management and analysis solutions, applying cockpit data connectivity technology, flight tracking, and fuel optimization.

SITA will install self-service check-in kiosks, self-bag drop areas, and self-boarding gates, enabling passengers to complete processes independently without multiple intermediaries. This will reduce waiting times, ease congestion, and enhance the airport experience.
Initially, the system will be implemented at Phu Quoc international airport. This is the crucial aviation gateway to the Pearl Island (Phu Quoc), currently undergoing a 5-star upgrade. With this partnership, Phu Quoc airport will be a pioneer in adopting a full self-service model in Southeast Asia.
The partnership will expand in the future to include Van Don international airport and connect with Sun PhuQuoc Airways.
SITA also plans to deploy a check-in application for guests directly at hotels and resorts within the Sun Group ecosystem.
According to a SITA representative, Vietnam's aviation market is growing rapidly in the region. Therefore, the partnership with Sun Group aims to build a modern aviation ecosystem, seamlessly connecting airports, airlines, and tourism service chains.

Previously, Sun Group partnered with Changi Airports International to realize a "destination airport" model at Phu Quoc international airport. According to a company representative, the partnership with Changi established the foundation for operational models and standards, while SITA plays a role in completing the infrastructure layer. This aims to meet the high operational standards required and welcome high-level delegations and large international passenger volumes for the APEC 2027 conference.

A company representative states that the combination of the operational model, technology platform, and tourism ecosystem is expected to create a new approach for Vietnam's aviation infrastructure. In this approach, airports serve as experience gateways rather than just transit points.
Established in 1949, SITA currently operates in over 200 countries and territories, providing technology solutions to thousands of airports and more than 90% of the world's airlines.
