Directed by Le Thanh Son, the Tet holiday film features a pivotal scene where the female lead, Ngoc, visits the home of wealthy Thien (Quach Ngoc Ngoan). Their conflict escalates, triggering a series of dramatic events for the main characters.
During filming, the director instructed Phuong Anh Dao to use a real knife instead of a prop, aiming for maximum realism. "I overcame my fear and learned knife control techniques combined with acting skills to avoid injuring Quach Ngoc Ngoan," she stated.
Despite her efforts, due to her inexperience with martial arts scenes, she accidentally hit her co-star's head with a lamp in one take. In another segment, she struck his nose, unable to control the speed of her movements. Quach Ngoc Ngoan lightened the mood with jokes, helping Phuong Anh Dao relax before each take.
"Bau vat troi cho" is the only film Phuong Anh Dao has participated in since Tran Thanh's "Mai" two years ago. Although she receives many acting offers, she prefers not to appear continuously to avoid giving audiences a sense of familiarity.
