My Tam debuted her new song, "Chuyen de danh," at her "See The Light" concert in Hanoi in early December, an event that drew 40,000 attendees. The track received positive feedback from the audience. Many fans reposted videos on their personal pages, expressing admiration for the song's meaningful message. On YouTube, a viewer named Le Vy wrote: "This song awakened me because I had neglected and not loved myself for too long. I suddenly realized I needed to change and start immediately."
My Tam composed "Chuyen de danh" while preparing for the "See The Light" concert. The idea for the song sparked after a fan asked on her social media, "Will the organizers film the show so I can dress up and go watch it?" The singer then composed the music in three hours, after which she refined the lyrics to be as fluid as possible.
According to the singer, the moment she put pen to paper, the opening lines came to her: "People often keep a beautiful shirt in the closet for a long time / Waiting for a sunny day to wear it together / But when brought out, time has passed, the shirt has faded / The most beautiful things missed, where are they now?" She reflected on her own habit of saving beautiful clothes and other things in life. My Tam believes many people, like her, have experienced regret or made mistakes, holding onto those feelings, which prevents them from living life to the fullest.
The song features a modern pop ballad style, blending acoustic elements with a string orchestra. The acoustic piano plays a primary role, guiding the emotions with slow arpeggiated chords, creating a narrative base for the vocals. Other instruments, such as guitar and bass, highlight the chorus. Musician Hoai Sa arranged the song, leveraging My Tam's strength in ballads and focusing on emotional delivery. My Tam's clear and decisive vocals aim to convey a strong message for the audience to easily grasp.
The song has garnered over 600,000 views on YouTube within four days of its release. Musician Nguyen Ha commented: "Each lyric is rich in imagery, relatable, and inspiring, making it easy for listeners to connect."
My Tam, 44, graduated as the top student from the Conservatory of TP HCM and began her singing career at 17. Beyond singing, she also composes and produces music. Her songs often feature gentle, intimate melodies, such as "Dung hoi em," "Vay cung vui," "Duong nhu ta da," "Giot suong," and "Nho."
With over 20 years in the music industry, the singer has released 9 CDs, all positively received by the public, establishing her as an influential figure in the country. She won the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in 2012, a leading annual Asian music award organized by South Korea. In 2014, she was honored with the Asia's Music Legend award at the Top Asia Corporate Ball 2014 event in Malaysia.
