The Miss Universe competition has reached its halfway mark, featuring numerous preliminary activities. Nearly 120 contestants will proceed to the national costume competition and semifinals, leading up to the final on the evening of 21/11.
The 74th edition of Miss Universe, themed "Beyond the Crown," commenced in early November. However, the competition has faced criticism from audiences regarding organizational issues and internal leadership conflicts within the Miss Universe Organization (MUO), leading to perceptions of unprofessionalism. Several contestants withdrew due to health concerns or personal reasons, leaving 120 participants to continue vying for the crown. Denmark's Victoria Kjaer Theilvig will crown her successor at the final on the evening of 21/11.
Established in 1952, Miss Universe remains one of the world's most-watched beauty pageants, with 165 countries and territories securing broadcast rights.
In recent years, the competition has evolved its rules to promote diversity, celebrating women's resilience and healthy lifestyles alongside physical beauty. Since 2023, the Miss Universe organization has permitted married women and mothers to participate.
