According to Next Apple, on the late actress's birthday (6/10), her family and close friends gathered. DJ Koo arrived at the cemetery early to prepare the memorial space. Later that day, Xu Xidi, Hy Vien's younger sister, and their mother joined the ceremony. The three had arranged to wear pink, the actress's favorite color.
Upon meeting, the three embraced emotionally. They shared stories, cut a birthday cake, and exchanged heartfelt words, talking and laughing as if Xu Xiyuan was still there. Xu Xidi sang "You Are My Sunshine" as a tribute to her sister.
After the others departed, some fans observed DJ Koo sitting alone, his face in his hands. When approached and asked if he had plans to return to South Korea, he simply replied, "Not yet".
Born in Taiwan in 1976, Xu Xiyuan entered the entertainment industry in the 1990s. She rose to prominence across Asia with her portrayal of Shan Cai in "Meteor Garden", a role that established her as a leading Chinese actress. Her other notable works include "Don't Hang Up", "Reign of Assassins", and "Summer's Desire".
The beloved actress passed away suddenly on 2/2/2025 while on a trip to Japan with her mother, sister, husband, and children. She left behind an estate valued at over one billion New Taiwan dollars (more than 30 million USD). Next Apple reported that she and DJ Koo did not sign a prenuptial agreement. The singer had previously announced that she would cede all her inheritance rights to her mother, Hoang Xuan Mai. Currently, Hy Vien's children with her ex-husband, Uong Tieu Phi, reside with their father and stepmother.
Since the actress's death, DJ Koo has put his work on hold, stopped updating social media, and largely withdrawn from public life. Xu Xidi, Hy Vien's younger sister, mentioned that her brother-in-law spends his days painting his late wife. DJ Koo, 57, is one of two members of the 1990s popular dance group Clon. Beyond performing, he is also a music producer.
