During a YouTube talk show, the 56-year-old actress discussed her romantic experiences from a young age, including her first relationship, which deeply hurt her. At the time, her boyfriend began dating her shortly after breaking up with his previous girlfriend. Some time later, he returned to his ex because he still had feelings for her. Hsuan was heartbroken, realizing she was merely a "temporary replacement." Looking back, she feels that all three of them were too young then, and the young man was not mature enough to handle complex relationship issues.
Jessica Hsuan's second relationship also ended poorly. The man had a girlfriend but concealed this from Hsuan, inadvertently making her the "third party." The actress discovered the truth through a university friend. "When I found out, I felt as if I had been struck by lightning, realizing how foolish I had been," she said.

Since then, Hsuan has become vigilant with men, approaching any new relationship with caution. When someone approaches her, she observes them carefully and proactively ends contact if her intuition suggests the relationship is unsafe.
The actress has experienced many other relationships, including a three-year romance with actor Dicky Cheung. Following that, she was engaged twice to men outside the entertainment industry, but both engagements were called off.
Jessica Hsuan's ex-boyfriends have included both Chinese and Western men. All her relationships ultimately failed to lead to lifelong commitment due to conflicting perspectives. For instance, one of Hsuan's Western boyfriends could not understand why Chinese people feel the need to buy homes for their parents. According to her, happiness is not about dating someone of the same or a different nationality, but rather about "meeting the right person."
Currently, the actress's criteria for finding a life partner are mutual understanding and the ability to communicate openly and honestly. She believes that somewhere in the world, there is someone with whom she shares a kindred spirit and a good sense of humor.
Previously, Jessica Hsuan believed her twenties were a woman's "most brilliant time." However, now in her 40s and 50s, she still finds joy and her life interesting. "I am not married; is that not good? Everyone has different perspectives. I simply follow what my heart desires, I do not imitate others," the actress stated.
